Hi, welcome to Spring-board…

The ultimate interactive platform for self-reflection and expression.

We’ve identified that youth don’t really connect with themselves and what makes them tick....which is kind of important for mental health!

To tackle this, we want to…

1) Promote youth to self-reflect by tracking activities and related feelings. = they log in and record activities they did that day and rate them based on how it made them feel. By physically reviewing this over time and tracking how they feel they can get a better understanding what makes them tick.

2) We want to encourage youth to express themselves through a virtual ‘moodboard’, which is private by default, but can be shared! AND to express themselves through personal activities and goals. =imagine a touch screen where you can swipe in coulors, pictures, activities, music videos and pretty much anything depending on your mood. You can then print this at any time and decorate your room- these print outs can act as a visual triggers of what you like. Distinctive advantage over facebook, instagram, pinterest where content is more fixed and only really accessible online. You can also create screenshots of the moodboard and share this with friends- which has received lot of positive feedback.

3) Getting youth doing the activities that they like out in the community.

We reckon this is a pretty awesome opportunity because...

1) The youth get a better (visual) understanding of what makes them tick, which they can then use to proactively address any personal issues they may face.

2) We get to gather and provide anonymous data on what ‘trending’ activities could promote youth mental health in the community.

3) We are also getting youth offline and engaging them in real world experiences that appeal to them. We are targeting a selective niche of highly visual 12- 16 year olds who are interested in creativity and/or physical activities and have access to any personal computer device.

Why?

Because we want to be proactive and provide them with skills that can help prevent any mental issues.

Who are we??

Kenneth- IT guy (striking cobra)

Katie- Designer chic

Alex- IT supporter and business jammer

Jenny-Works with books and kids

Amaka- Promotions, contacts, driver

What have we done so far??

We’ve created a sitemap which shows the basic layout of our platform

We've created a mock up pdf which is available to view online

We've found that youth are already trying to express themselves (facebook, instagram)

They are also self-reflecting but this is mostly done mentally and is not recorded and tracked. A lot of them are keen to start recording but they don’t have an easy enough outlet to do so. We've approached a number of 12-16 year olds with our concept and found that 60% would use it and 30% would at least try it- which is a really positive start.

Where do we want to go from here? Be a little bit nerdy by refining the idea and design with more in-depth research. We've created a road map of how to get to where we currently are to… Launching the Minimum Viable Product!!

Thank You!
